Intro
Old University of Leuven (Louvain): this name refers to Louvain University from its foundation in 1425 until its closure by the French government in 1797. During this period, the Old University not only functioned as the "national" university of the (Southern) Low Countries, but it also had an excellent reputation among students and professors from all over Europe.
Important tips for going through the exhibition:
1) If you want to determine the order of the pages you want to view yourself, you can always return to the start page (with table of contents, see below) by clicking on the text in the banner at the top.
2) If you click on one of the images on the following pages, you will see additional information from the library catalogue.
3) If you click through to an item from the Limo library catalogue, a pop-up window always appears. You can make this disappear by clicking on 'continue as guest' or 'close' in that window.
