Erycius Puteanus (1574-1646) started his studies at the University of Cololgne. At the age of twenty, he enrolled at the University of Leuven to study law. Aside from his law studies, he attended the classes in Latin that were taught by Justus Lipsius (1547-1606) at the Collegium Trilingue. After Lipsius' death, Puteanus succeeded him as professor in Latin.
